Will I need to remove the old plumbers putty and put in new?
I am going to install a new bath drain. I need to know if I should pick up some plumbers putty when I go to purchase my drain remover and new casing.

- Yes definitly the old putty will be kind of dry and won't seal as well as new putty
- Teflon tape is always a good item to have around for the threads also. (it is inexpensive) and will save you headaches in the long run. Good luck!
- Yep, get some plumbers putty.
- Clean area and use plumbers putty. If in south (dry ) area I suggest to use silicone sealent 100%. Plumbers putty when used in the south has a tendency to dry out and leak. Seen this a hundred times. Even used silicone in the north.
